I got fidgety because AL.com hasn't been taking lyric submissions for so many months, plus I also discovered this wonderful Winamp plugin today which lets you display {and time your own} lyrics along with highlighting a la karaoke or subtitles or something.
So I went through and made timed files for my translations of a couple of my favorite Gackt songs...
Fragrance
and
Hoshi no suna {aka Starsand}
Truth is I picked these two because... has anyone read Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series? Well, in my head, Fragrance is Asher's song about Jean-Claude, and Hoshi no Suna is Jean-Claude's song about Asher. The version of Hoshi no Suna was translated with that slant in mind; if I was starting out with a completely neutral set of speaker-assumptions and had to guess blank, I'd have ended up with something that went more like this. But I couldn't resist playing with the implications of whether the dialogue going on was internal or external, because pronouns just aren't specified in two of the stanzas -- so if it was internal you get the "generic" version; if it was external you get the "Jean-Claude" version.
{sweatdrop} Here's betting nobody actually cares, but I felt like rambling for a while anyhow... I may put more timed-lyric files up later if I get around to it; I've got a whole lot of lyrics over at AL.com which I can now time about as fast as listening to them once.
{Carlos's Winamp lyrics plugin insanely rocks. I can't seem to copy the URL directly out of the plugin window, but it claims to be at cosorio.cjb.net/winamp-en.html. I had problems getting it from there, but it came from the actual Winamp site just fine...} anyhow, done rambling for a while I think...

Yeah, I hate that AL won't take lyrics. Goddamn lamers ripping other ppl's work. I wrote up lyrics to an english song from haibane renmei that nobody has done properly yet (I've seen a few, but they're the 'official ones' aka engrished a bit). How can I get this plugin?

That song describes the books? I know which series I'm reading next!

That's a neat plugin! I haven't read any Anita Blake books though. XD

I think the Anita Blake books were written by someone who desperately needed to know the word "bishounen" and has never encountered anime. The author is very very detailed about stuff like hair and clothing styles and so on, and all her descriptions of guys seem to involve the concept of "beautiful but masculine" and not having the words to get it across.... ^^;;; I keep trying to do anime-style character sketches of them and my complete lack of talent keeps getting in the road...
anyway, if you like Count Cain and you like detective mysteries with a hard edge, you'd probably like the Anita Blake books... vampires, werewolves, and a tough-as-nails PI, plus you would not BELIEVE how convoluted Anita's romantic entanglements get by the end of the series. I picked those songs for the guys 'cause they fit. The best song I can think of to describe Anita's love life is Weird Al's Jerry Springer remake of "One Week"... ^^;;; (By the way, if you haven't seen the Sailor Moon comedy music video to that, it is a work of unbridled genius...)
